Jen & Eric's 2003 TNT Pledge Page
As many of you already know, last fall I completed my first Olympic Distance triathlon. After watching Eric participate in his first in the Spring, I was determined to complete one. Well, now I'm hooked - actually - we're both hooked. And we've got big plans for this season, that's why we've created this page!!!
We both participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program - one of the largest endurance training programs of it's kind in the country. Last season, close to 400 athletes trained with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Triathlon Program raising over 2.2 million dollars to help support the organization’s mission. (And keep in mind there are Cycling, Running and Walking Teams doing the same thing!) This season we will both be training with the Triathlon and Cycling Teams. Eric will be completing his 10th event with Team in Training this Spring. I'll be completing my third. Yes, a week after I did the Triathlon with TNT, I ended up doing the 100 mile bike ride with the Team since we were already in Florida! Our event calendar is quite full this year. In addition to doing a variety of local races, we will be doing 4 events with TNT: May 18, 2003 - Olympic Distance Triathlon (Memphis in May) June 1, 2003 - 100 Mile Bike Ride (Lake Tahoe Century) September 28, 2003 - Olympic Distance Triathlon (Disney World Triathlon) October 4, 2003 - 100 Mile Bike Ride (Tropical Island Century) As you can see, we have a lot of fundraising to do for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We've created this page so we can share our adventures with as many people as possible. Our goal is to raise $4,000 by May and another $8,000 by September. With your help we'll get there and fight Leukemia and other blood related cancers in the process!!! As you may already know, fighting Leukemia is something we are passionate about as Eric's Dad is fighting an incurable form of Leukemia every day. He was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) 6 years ago and Eric's been cycling for a cure ever since. I joined the fight last year. We continue to do everything we can to raise awareness and funds for TNT. That's where you come in - any size donation, no matter how big or small will help us reach our goal. If you're not sure whether you'd like to donate, consider these staggering statistics: * An estimated 106,700 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma this year. * Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma -- nearly 300 people a day. * Leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma will kill an estimated 60,400 persons in the United States this year. * Leukemia and lymphomas are the leading fatal cancers in young men under 35. * Every nine minutes, a child or adult dies from leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. * An estimated 640,000 Americans are presently living with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Please help us fight this disease ... make a donation today! Thank You!!! Jen & Eric P.S.
